This question and many more will be answered on October 7th with the first video of the YouTube webseries, "Emma Approved." I am personally very much looking forward to it.
What is Emma Approved? To answer that I must tell you about The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. My sister discovered this series on YouTube, based on "Pride and Prejudice." A modern girl named Lizzie posted videos every week telling about her life. She had two sisters named Jane and Lydia, a cousin named Mary, and a best friend who helped "edit" the videos named Charlotte. We watched them off and on. There was some language, etc, that we didn't like, but overall we thought they were very clever and very well done. Lizzie eventually met Bingley, Caroline, Darcy, and Collins. The videos got better and better. They made us laugh; they made us cry. They made us want more! The LBD ended after episode 100. It such was a fun journey.
The follow up mini-series (to tide us over until the fall) was called "Welcome to Sanditon," based on Jane Austen's unfinished novel, "Sanditon." It followed Gigi, Darcy's sister, and, though short, had some cute moments. It left us hanging though, right after introducing a new male character. I wonder why?? (JANE!)
The Lizzie Bennet Diaries recently won an Emmy Award for "Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media." Basically it means they did an awesomely amazing job of involving their fans in the story. See, each main character had a twitter account. Some had instagram, pinterest, or tumblr too. They posted things on their accounts in between the videos, and fans could comment, share, ask questions, and interact with the characters as if they were real people! It was a huge success, and they definitely earned the Emmy. Now that I'm on instagram and twitter, it will be easier to follow these for their next adaption, "Emma Approved." Yes, they're doing EMMA! I'm very excited to follow it. It's a popular book, even though Jane Austen herself wasn't sure how people would like Emma as a character. I'll admit, she is annoying. But it's nice to have a heroine with faults that you can relate to better. Just read her blog to see how conceited she is: Who Is Emma Woodhouse? (On a side note, I was happy she included Kate Middleton in her style post. :) I love her!)
Emma's blog is the only thing we have giving us clues (apart from a few tweets from different characters) until the first video comes out Monday! Here is a good article introducing the characters with all the info we know about them based on their tweets: Emma Approved is Coming!
So now we wait. In expectation. We know it's going to be good. We know we're going to love it. We can't wait to meet the characters. We can't wait to follow the story. We can't wait til Monday!!
